The scale of food insecurity for children in the UK is huge, with over 4.2 million children living in poverty. That is an average of 10 children in every class of 30. It poses an urgent question. What happens to the children in our community when their basic needs are unmet?
School holidays are not just a break from the classroom. For many, they are also a break from hot meals. TLG Make Lunch clubs stand in the gap, providing healthy nutritious meals and fun enriching activities for children and their families. We create safe and welcoming communities that relieve anxiety and provide vital support to those who need it most. Make Lunch is a lifeline for families, bringing hope right where they are.
Since Make Lunch began, our partner churches have cooked and served over 100,000 meals to more than 10,000 children who could otherwise go hungry. All our clubs are run by volunteers who believe that even just one meal for one child could make a vital difference.
We understand that its not just families that are struggling, so we at Bursledon Parish have opened this up to all.
