Building Community, Transforming Lives

what we do

Welcome to Bursledon Parish

Rev John Pawson
Vicar of Bursledon

As a local church, our aim is to be a loving family that meets together to worship God and encourage each other. Throughout the week we are learning to follow Jesus in our families, schools, work places and communities, as we live, serve and share the love of Jesus and the hope we have found in him.

This website will give you lots of information about all the different things we do as a church family, and the services we offer, including weddings, baptisms and funerals, and how to hire one of our rooms. Try browsing the drop-down menus at the top of the page, or clicking on a word in blue. We hope you will be able to find what you’re looking for on our website, but if you have any difficulties please contact the Church Office.

We look forward to meeting you soon at one of our services, groups or events.

Introducing St Leonard’s and St Paul’s

Welcome

Bursledon is a lively parish, served by two churches, with a variety of activities and services to suit all ages. This site aims to give you an overview of all that happens, but more information is available through the Church Office should you need it. The best ways to keep on top of what is going on are to sign up for our newsletter by emailing the Church Office and/or find us on Facebook. We also have a separate CYF Facebook page relating to our Children, Youth and Families work. You can also access the latest newsletter here.

Each Sunday we offer some services that are more traditional and others that are quite informal. St Leonard’s tends to be more traditional (though not always!) with a robed choir and organ, and St Paul’s more contemporary.  However, many of our congregation cross over between the two and we feel very blessed to be one church, worshipping in two places.

We have a strong focus on our work with children, families and young people and provide safe, fun and exciting opportunities for our under 18s to explore faith and life in ways that they can relate to and understand. All our groups for this age group are detailed under the ‘Children & Youth’ tab. Should you want to find out more please contact Suzanne Houston or Alice Street who leads this work.

Whether you are just beginning to ask questions on the issues of faith, or have been on the journey for some while, our hope is that you will find in St Leonard’s and St Paul’s churches a place that is comfortable and safe to explore.  We look forward to meeting you and the team is always available if you would like to talk or find out more.

Every Blessing,

The Bursledon Parish Team

Vision for our Community & Vision for our Church

To see God’s love and kingdom thriving throughout Bursledon.

When this happens Bursledon will be a place where…

  • No-one is lonely, isolated or unsupported
  • Younger and older people understand, respect and speak well of each other
  • Children do better at school because family relationships are more stable
  • Young people are supported into fulfilling careers and strong relationships
  • The community is widely known for its outstanding generosity and care

We envisage by the Holy Spirit, the days when people will come to Bursledon because they have heard that God is here!
